Covid-19 Personal Statement

Sarena Sloot
I have spent my life caring for the communities in Washington state. Patients entrust me with their lives and there is no greater responsibility or privilege.

Citizens are now incurring the burden of up to 40% of their personal healthcare costs as compared to an average estimate of 5% in 2000.

Small Business / Private Sector Economy

Free market and private sector small business industry are a cornerstone of economy in eastern and central WA.

Borders / Infrastructure

The federal government is to protect both the rights and livelihood of its citizens at all cost. Considering an evolving pandemic and future biologic attack, now more than ever the strength of our borders and critical infrastructure is a matter of survival and prosperity

Growing up in Eastern Washington I knew many migrant workers and families as neighbors and friends. Strong borders stances do not mean failing to address immigration policy that results in deportation of our long-term migrant population.

As a mother of 3 children and the first of my family to graduate from college I have deep appreciation for the importance of access and opportunity regarding higher education.

Second Amendment Right:

There is no constitutional right that will be subject to interpretation to fit personal bias or motive. I adamantly defend our right to bear arms.

Considering the current instability and lack of confidence surrounding acceptance of the currently proposed draft EIS preferred alternative to lower Snake River Dam breaching and the inability to obtain ESA exception, I support the Risk Mitigation Response Alternative plan which will mitigate profound impacts to both irrigation and municipalities.

Sarena Sloot has been honored to have Washington lives entrusted to her care for over 15 years. She considers advocation for others to be her calling. The roll of Congress is akin to advocacy by design. Representation is the voice of the constituents and guard of civil rights and freedom.
